The artist behind the portraits

My story, in my own words.

A little about me, the experiences that shaped my work, and why capturing personality and emotion remains at the heart of every portrait.

My story

Feeling the emotion, seeing the detail.

I grew up in a farming family, where the countryside, animals and the rhythm of farm life were part of everyday life. That connection with animals has stayed with me ever since.

Rather than following my siblings into farming, I moved into Stage and Film Make-up and worked at Avalon Studios in New Zealand for three years. I returned to England in the early 1990s, became a mum to three children and spent around twenty years working in retail.

After moving to Cornwall in 2014, I rediscovered my love of creating. During the 2021 pandemic I found watercolour tutorials online, began painting animals from photographs and started offering pet portrait commissions.

My website launched in December 2021, followed by craft and artisan events across Devon and Cornwall in 2022. In 2026, family commitments brought another move to Norfolk and the North Norfolk coast.
